Wind Lease for Offshore Kitty Hawk This Year
The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management will likely release tracks offshore of Kitty Hawk for wind energy by the end of the year. There will still need to be two environmental studies and time to build the infrastructure before any energy could be generated within the area but this is a major first step. The areas off North Carolina currently do not have any offshore wind farms but are thought to have the highest offshore wind energy potential in the nation.
