US Wind Moves Forward with Maryland Offshore Wind Project

US Wind, in agreement with EPIC Applied Technologies, is installing a meteorological tower beginning in the summer of 2019. The tower will be used to collect raw wind data at a height comparable to offshore wind turbines. The collected wind data will be used to validate existing data and monitor the performance of installed turbines during the lifetime of the eventual wind farm. The project is based off the coast of Ocean City, Maryland and is expected to be operational in 2023 consisting of 32 turbines, capable of producing 268 megawatts of energy.
