Understanding Turbulence to Help Tidal Energy

Just like with wind energy, turbulence can interact with collecting tidal energy. However, meteorological towers make measuring atmospheric turbulence much easier than in the ocean. A research team is now working on deploying a system of instruments secured to mooring lines in order to address this problem. The research is funded through the U.S. Department of Energy.
