See the Data: the California Plastic Bag Ban Helps but Debris is Still a Problem
The California plastic bag ban passed and goes into effect July 1, 2015 for grocery stores and July 1, 2016 for smaller convenience stores. Although this is a huge step to decrease litter and marine debris, both are still a problem in California. The West Coast Governors Alliance on Ocean Health has the data to show the full extent of the marine debris problem in the area.
