Rotor Blades for Offshore Wind Turbines Made of Plastic Foams?

As wind turbines move offshore, their size continues to grow. The transportation, installation, disassembly, and disposal of these gigantic blades are presenting operators overseas with new challenges. Researchers and industry experts are now working to develop highly durable thermoplastic foams and composites that make the blades lighter and recyclable. The first demonstrators will be on display at a trade fair in Germany.
