Offshore Wind Could Generate Billions for North Carolina Economy

A new analysis shows that constructing a 2.8-gigawatts offshore wind farm off North Carolina’s coast by 2030 will result in a net benefit of up to $4.6 billion for the state’s economy. The report also quantified job creation and indicated the potential for up to 31,000 full-time equivalent positions during the construction phase and over 900 ongoing jobs during the single project’s lifetime. It looked at existing research on offshore wind in the area and combined it with a jobs and economic development impact simulation.
