New York Officials Seek to Expand Offshore Wind Energy Projects
New York officials proposed four new sites for offshore wind energy projects to the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management and have asked for an expedited process. The governor set a goal of producing 50% of all electricity in the state from renewable energy by 2030 and hopes that offshore energy will be a large contributor. He envisions producing 2,400 megawatts of offshore wind, enough to power up to 1.2 million households in the state.
