New Technology Measures Offshore Wind and Reduces Costs
A new wind measurement buoy utilizes lidar to effectively measure wind speeds that were traditionally measured using wind met masts. The buoy measures wind at heights between 40 and 200 meters -- perfect for determining the suitability of a location for an offshore wind farm. Wind energy developers can now get a better picture of a location’s suitability for offshore wind thanks to the more precise and comprehensive data.
