New Jersey Shows Strong Support for Wind Energy

A poll from Monmouth University found that 76% of New Jersey residents support development of offshore wind farms off the state’s coast. Nearly half say that wind energy development should be a priority for the state in the coming decade. A majority of respondents would still support development even if it meant an increase in their utility costs because of the benefits it provides to the environment. “There seems to be a recognition that the long-term economic and environmental benefits of investing in clean, renewable energy sources outweigh any short-term costs,” said Tony MacDonald, Director of the Urban Coast Institute at Monmouth University.
