Hawaii Looks to Offshore Wind Energy to Meet Clean Energy Goals

The state of Hawaii set a 100% clean energy goal by 2045 and is looking to offshore wind energy to help get them there. Selling leases off the coast of Oahu could begin next year. The difficulty will be in making sure the turbines don’t negatively affect waves or humpback whale habitats. Even though to meet the 2045 goal Hawaii will need to invest in offshore wind energy, planners are insisting that everything will be done with all parties in mind.
