Grant Supports Development of Efficient Offshore Wind Farms
The U.S. currently has only two small offshore wind farms, but the winds off the East Coast hold immense potential to deliver more than two times the national electricity demand. A new research project from Cornell University will investigate the optimal spacing between wind turbines to maximize power production. The project will run for two years and is jointly funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority.
