Five Years of the National Ocean Policy
In 2010, President Obama created the first National Ocean Policy aimed at maintaining the security, health, resilience, and productivity of our oceans. In 2013, the National Ocean Council released the National Ocean Policy Implementation Plan translating the policy into on-the-ground actions. Within these past five years, federal agencies have made progress towards protecting our oceans and increasing resilience. A new report from Open Channels summarizes these actions.
