BOEM Starts an Environmental Study of Wind Project Offshore Rhode Island

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) announced a notice of intent to prepare an environmental impact statement for an 880-megawatt offshore wind project off the coast of Rhode Island. The notice opens a 30-day public comment period that closes on June 1. During this time, BOEM will hold three virtual public scoping meetings and accept comments. If approved, construction of Revolution Wind could directly create 1,200 jobs in Connecticut and Rhode Island as well as thousands of indirect jobs.
