Department of Interior Completes Environmental Review for Vineyard Wind 1

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management completed its environmental analysis of the Vineyard Wind project off the coast of Massachusetts. If approved, Vineyard Wind would be the first commercial scale offshore wind project in the United States. A final decision on the project is pending completion of review and consultation under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, which requires federal agencies to consider a proposed project’s effects on historic properties. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the National Marine Fisheries Service will sign a joint record of decision for their respective authorization decisions.
