Providing Easily Accessible Maps to Aid Ecosystem Restoration in the Gulf of Mexico
The Gulf of Mexico faces multiple stressors that impacts the overall health of the Gulf. Local managers are working to mitigate these issues but need spatial data to inform decision makers and successful restoration practices. The Ocean Conservancy created a set of maps for the region highlighting habitats, environmental stressors, human use data, and more. This included using oil and gas platform locations, wells, pipelines, and marine administrative boundaries from Marine Cadastre. The maps help managers work with stakeholders to determine valuable restoration and management efforts.
