Cleveland is on Track to Lead Offshore Wind Energy in the Great Lakes

In 2019, Lake Erie will be the proving waters for the region’s first offshore wind farm developed by LeedCo in partnership with Icebreaker Windpower. The project will include six 3.45 megawatt turbines and is expected to start construction next year, just 8 miles northwest of downtown Cleveland. While most of the U.S.’s focus for offshore wind seems to be on the East Coast, LeedCo president, Lorry Wagner, believes Cleveland has all the ingredients to be a giant in the world of renewable wind energy.
