Aquaculture Could be Coming to U.S. Federal Waters

Currently, aquaculture primarily takes place in state waters but all that could change with the introduction of an aquaculture bill. The bill would expedite permitting processes in federal waters and support research and development to develop cost-effective feeds and better monitor environmental impacts. The U.S. is highly dependent on imported fish stocks and this bill hopes to close that deficit. More aquaculture would also benefit soybean, corn and pea farmers, because those crops can be used as fish feed.
